Jane's Level 2 Qualification

I am so pleased I passed the course.

I have been with Persona just over 6 years. I started working as a Casual Care Assistant at Woodbury in Whitefield that offers short stay/respite care and that is where I found my passion for supporting people with various needs. 

Currently, I am a Support Worker based in Ramsbottom, supporting adults with Learning Disabilities in their own home (Supported Living).

I've always wanted to work in care, but it was difficult because I don't drive. It seemed that no one would give me a chance, but I'm so pleased that Persona did! I try and give the best quality of care I can and to improve the people we support's quality of life - it is such a fulfilling job that I enjoy.

Being a Support Worker, I administer medication daily, keep up-to-date written records, buy, prepare, and cook all meals with the tenants whilst promoting as much independence as possible in all aspects of their daily lives. I also provide support with daily living: assisting with personal care needs, dressing if needed and always ensuring their homes are clean and tidy.

Persona funded and provided me with the opportunity to complete the Adult Care Level 2 Qualification, where I completed various assignments such as the exploration of:

• Responsibilities of a Care Worker
• Safeguarding
• Duty of Care
• Dementia Awareness

Because it was an in-depth course, it demanded a significant amount of time, work and dedication which meant I completed the majority of this in my own time outside of work.

Jo, my manager, would always ask on supervision how I was getting on and supervised my multiple-choice exam, were I achieved a distinction, which I am grateful for.

After earning this qualification, I feel more confident providing support to the people in my care every day. I also feel proud of my achievement and how I was able to show my understanding. The assignments were related to my daily tasks and day-to-day role at work.

I am extremely grateful to Persona for providing me with this opportunity. 

The best thing about my job is supporting people to live their lives how they want to, and seeing smiles on their faces when they see you walk through the door.
