The workforce team visited Bury College to deliver a Curious about Care event to first year Health and Social Care Students.
We talked about the students' hopes and aspirations for the future and gave them information about the adult care workforce in Bury. We discussed opportunities for career development in social care, as well as giving them an insight into working at Persona.
During the visit we also met three 'T' Level students, just before they started placements at Elmhurst Short Stay where they spent a week with the team
When we asked them for their feedback and thoughts at the end of their placements, we could see how much their confidence had grown in just one week.
They said
'the placement couldn’t have been any better, we were made so welcome by all the staff and we have learnt so much including:
- how to store medication
- how to support people living with dementia
- what to do when someone doesn’t have capacity
and much more!'
Ruth Holder, Elmhurst's Registered Manager, told us
'the students were all great, they joined in enthusiastically and asked questions when they weren’t sure. I'd love to see them applying for jobs with us in the future!'
